DBG is seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Journeyman Machinist to join our metal fabrication team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision craftsmanship, thrives in a hands‑on environment, and can independently set up, operate, and maintain machining equipment. You’ll work with a variety of metals, tools, and fabrication processes to produce high‑quality components that meet exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual and CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and saws.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Fabricate metal components to tight tolerances using machining, cutting, drilling, and finishing techniques.
- Perform layout work, precision measurements, and quality checks throughout the fabrication process.
- Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with dimensional and quality standards.
- Document measurements, adjustments, and production data accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage, machine guarding, and safe material handling.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and fellow fabricators to resolve production challenges.
- Suggest improvements to machining processes, tooling, and workflow efficiency.
- Support training and mentorship of apprentices or less‑experienced machinists when needed.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Machinist certification or equivalent experience.
- 3–5+ years of machining experience in a metal fabrication environment.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, speeds/feeds, and material properties.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T symbols.
- Proficiency with manual machining; CNC programming or editing experience is a plus.
- Solid math skills, including geometry and trigonometry used in machining.
- Ability to lift and handle materials safely (typically up to 50 lbs.).
Preferred:
- Experience with welding or fabrication equipment (MIG/TIG, plasma cutting).
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
- Background in high‑precision or high‑volume manufacturing.
